Q. What is a SolarChoice Heater?
A SolarChoice Heater is a passive solar heater no moving parts, no electricity or connections of any kind are required that looks like a vertical window blind.

Q. How do SolarChoice Heaters work?
Each blind draws cool air through the bottom and the heat absorbing metal insert warms the air to 120-140 degrees. Q. What rooms can I heat with a SolarChoice Heater?
You can heat any room in your home or office with a SolarChoice Heater. You will get the best results by installing SolarChoice Heaters in south-facing windows as they get the most direct sunlight.

Q: Do SolarChoice Heaters provide insulation for my windows?
Yes. With an R-value of 1.7 SolarChoice Heaters provide window insulation to prevent heat loss. (Many double glass, gas-filled windows have an R-value of approximately 2.0)

Q. What are the economic benefits of a SolarChoice Heater?
SolarChoice Heaters can lower your monthly heating bill up to 35%. Taking advantage of Federal, State and/or County solar energy tax credits, rebates and/or incentives can also lower your cost or purchasing the SolarChoice Heater passive solar heating system.

Q. What is the maintenance on Solar Energy Heaters?
Maintenance on SolarChoice Heaters is very easy. Wiping the outside of each heater occasionally with a damp cloth or paper towel will keep your SolarChoice Heaters looking great for years to come.

Q. Will SolarChoice Heaters work in any room in my home or office?
Yes. However, SolarChoice Heaters are recommended for placement in south-facing windows to take advantage of the direct sunlight these windows receive.

Q. Are SolarChoice Heaters safe?
Yes. A SolarChoice Heater is a passive solar heater with no moving parts, no electricity, gas or connections of any kind.

Q. What do you do with SolarChoice Heaters during warm weather months?
There are two ways to turn our heaters (vanes) "off" during warm weather months. The first is to draw the passive solar blinds to the side during daytime hours. During the evening they can be closed for privacy and security purposes just like any other window treatment. The other way to stop heat generation is to adjust the position of the heaters so they are perpendicular to the window.

Q. Does your SolarChoice Heater order come with a head rail for mounting?
No. A head rail custom cut to your horizontal window measurement can be purchased at a local hardware store or in the hardware/window treatment department of a large retailer (WalMart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.). Since a head rail could require maintenance at some point in the future, having a local source for repair or replacement will allow you to address the issue quickly - without the need to return the head rail to SolarChoice Heat.
